Study in the UK

When you are looking for the best places to study in the UK, English Teacher Online recommends a college that has been educating students since 1532. With over 400 years of experience, The College of Richard Collyer is one of the top 20 Sixth Form Colleges in the UK. Spacious and friendly with 1,750 full-time students aged between 16-19, Collyer’s has almost 100 international students who live (homestay) with local families. This is an amazing opportunity for students to become fluent in English while studying in the beautiful historic town of Horsham in the south of England. The college is conveniently located less than an hour from London, Heathrow, Brighton and is only a twenty-minute drive to Gatwick International Airport.

My own family lives in Horsham which is why I am proud to promote Collyer’s in Thailand. I regularly visit the college and provide a personal link between students and their families and college staff. Many students go on to study at top universities in England and Collyer’s has a personal tutor dedicated to coaching students through the entrance process for Oxford and Cambridge. I’m happy to answer any of your questions and invite you to watch the official Collyer’s Movie below.

Fantastic Facilities

The college campus has a beautifully equipped library with top quality, up to date resources that meet the needs of the curriculum. It has comfortable areas for quiet study and research, staffed by professional and helpful librarians. The library has a wide variety of print-based and electronic resources including books, journals, DVDs, career and higher education material. The college intranet provides access to the virtual learning environment which covers both academic and personal resources for students.

Students can borrow laptops and tablets while studying in the library and there is wi-fi throughout. Networked PCs with internet access, colour printers, scanners and photocopying facilities are available free of charge. The learning resource centre is open until 19:30 four evenings a week and staff are available to advise and assist students with their research needs.

Super Sport Academies

Collyer’s has recently launched academies in Basketball, Netball and Rugby, with more planned in the future. These programmes allow elite sports students the opportunity to develop their chosen sport alongside their studies. This includes more coaching hours, physio support, video analysis and personal training programmes. The college has two football pitches, five-a-side football and volleyball, and a rugby pitch. The floodlit games area can be used for netball, tennis and five-a-side football. The newly refurbished Sports Centre caters for a variety of indoor sports including basketball, badminton and table tennis. There is a free fitness suite which is well equipped with a range of cardio-vascular machines, fixed and free weight equipment.

High Quality Support

Collyer’s focus on providing high quality support and guidance in academic and personal development. It has been awarded the Beacon Status by the Department of Education to reflect its high standards of teaching over many years. Students at Collyer’s consistently graduate among the best A-Level results in the region, Ofsted saying, “The quality of teaching and learning is outstanding.”

A student’s study programme can include A Level, AS Level, BTEC National or other approved courses. All programmes are supported by the Tutorial Programme, planned study, additional study and enrichment opportunities. Students are encouraged to use their time during the week to complete private study so they can participate in a range of activities such as team games, recreational activities, drama, dance or musical activities.
